TambourTouch · Tambour Collection

1-1/2″ Bevel Slat Tambour

Thin Profile · Flexible & Solid Backing · Made in the USA

The widest bevel slat in a thin profile — dramatic scale with a lighter, more flexible construction. The reduced thickness opens up curved applications for this bold, large-format profile.

Proudly Made in the USA from Premium North American Hardwoods

Scale without weight — the 1-1/2″ bevel in thin profile brings the widest slat to curved surfaces.

The Profile in Detail

◢

Wide Bevel, Thin Construction

The thin profile reduces resistance to bending, making the dramatic 1-1/2″ bevel slat available for curved surfaces that standard thickness would not accommodate.

↩

Flexible Backing for Large Radius

Ideal for large-radius curves — hotel feature walls, curved retail environments, and architectural column cladding where the bold scale of 1-1/2″ is required.

🌲

7 Species Available

Red Oak, Paint Grade, Hard Maple, Walnut, White Oak, Cherry, and Alder — sanded and ready for your specified finish.

🏢

Hospitality & Commercial

The combination of wide slat and flexible construction makes this the profile of choice for large commercial curved installations.

Storage, Handling & Acclimation

Acclimate First — Always

On receipt, store flat in a controlled interior environment. Allow 24–48 hours to acclimate before finishing or installing. This stabilizes moisture content and reduces post-install movement. Before you begin, lightly roll and unroll each panel to flex the backing — hold the rolled position for 5+ seconds, then return flat.

Interior Use Only

Tambour panels are not suitable for wet or high-humidity environments including showers, bathrooms, or pools. Always install in a space with standard room temperature and humidity.

Step by Step

1

Prep the Surface

Wall must be clean, sound, and free of dust, grease, or debris. Apply primer to porous substrates for better adhesion.

2

Dry-Fit First

Always dry-fit before committing adhesive. Install vertically or horizontally — confirm your layout before you spread anything.

3

Apply Adhesive

Use PVA, contact, epoxy, or a quality panel adhesive (e.g., Titebond Fast Grab FRP). Trowel for 80–100% coverage to within ¼″ of edges. With a gun, run beads around the perimeter and horizontal beads every 4–6″.

4

Press & Secure

Apply firm, uniform pressure across the full panel. Use a ¾″ sacrificial board when tapping or hammering. For curved applications, temporary bracing until the glue sets ensures clean contact.

5

Leave Micro-Gaps

Leave a hairline gap between adjacent panels — roughly two stacked business cards — to accommodate natural wood movement over time.

6

Clean Up

Clean any adhesive squeeze-out immediately to avoid residue on slat faces.

Pro Tips

Pre-Stretch Inward

Before attaching, roll the panel inward to stretch the backing. This makes it more compliant and easier to handle, especially on curved surfaces.

Flex Outward with Intent

Follow up by flexing outward firmly to fully stretch the paper backing. A properly stretched panel lays flatter and adheres more evenly.

No Cabinets Through Tambour

Never mount cabinets or furniture through the panel into the wall. Wood movement can cause buckling and will void the warranty.

Warranty Reminder

Warranty may be voided if panels are installed in high-moisture environments, or if cabinetry or furniture is mounted through the tambour panel into the wall. Always follow adhesive manufacturer's instructions and allow full acclimation prior to installation.

Love the tambour detail

The whole process was good. Initially I got a sample kit that vastly helped, because even as a kitchen designer, I had not used tambour before. I got needed help w/ Designer Nick because it was hard to tell the proportions of the tambour and size of the radius I needed. His help was invaluable. My rep was incredibly patient getting my order correct (it was). And I got my well packed order in a timely manner with all the information I needed. The 2 things I would suggest is labeling the pictures in the catalogue w/ the product you used- otherwise it’s a guess and hard to tell. The other I was most concerned with is out of 6 long and 1 short piece of white oak I ordered- one section was significantly darker. I know wood is a natural product but I think the difference should also be shown in the pictures or the expectations would be for there to be more consistency. In the color I hid mine away from the light and under the island overhang but had it been an accent wall, I would have called on it for a resolution. I’m really happy with my design choice as well as the company choice. I think you do a great job!
